The Project

The Millau Bridge, in Southern France, crosses the Tarn River in the Massif Central Mountains as part of the A75 Motorway. With a roadway 277 meters above the Tarn River with a pier and mast rising 343 meters above the ground, it is the highest bridge in Europe and one of the tallest in the world. This 2460 meters long viaduct is sustained by 7 piers and has rightfully been described as beautiful, breathtaking, spectacular and awe-inspiring.

Why BMI Group?

The large surface of the bridge (2500 meters long, 32 meters wide) required a solution quick and easy to install.

Parafor Ponts, a high performance polyester reinforced SBS elastomeric bitumen membrane, was the ideal choice given the long-track record and high application speed.

With over 40 years of successful experience and several millions of m² applied on most prestigious bridges, Parafor Ponts can be installed using the Mini Jet Pont installation machine of BMI Siplast. Two machines ensured the correct installation of the membrane at a speed of 1500 to 2200 sqm a day allowing the team to complete the job in only 7 days and fulfilling the rigorous time planning required by the project.
